The Fitness Race Taking Over the World
I’ve always wanted to test my strength but was never quite sure how—or what kind of challenge would really count. Then one of our super athletic friends told my husband about Hyrox. Since my husband knows I’ve had this itch—almost like a bucket list dream—to be an athlete at least once in my life, he immediately shared it with me.
That’s when I started looking into it myself, and the more I learned, the more it clicked. Hyrox blends the endurance of running with the power of functional workouts in a format that’s both structured and demanding. - 8 x 1 km runs (8 km total)
- After each run → 1 workout station
- Stations include exercises like sled pushes, sled pulls, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carries, sandbag lunges, and wall balls
By the finish line, participants will have run 8 kilometers and conquered 8 different functional challenges—a true full-body test.

For example, Sophia and Bob Warren, a couple in their 70s, completed Hyrox together and even qualified for the World Championships. Seeing that was so inspiring—it proves you’re never too old to challenge yourself.
The relay format is also such a cool option—it turns the event into a team experience. Two people split the runs and exercises, tag-teaming their way through the course. Hyrox events are happening everywhere—Europe, Asia, North America. In Canada, there’s one in Toronto this October, and Vancouver is finally hosting its first-ever Hyrox on December 21, 2025. You’ll see CrossFit athletes, casual runners, weekend warriors, first-timers, couples in their 70s, and even people like me who are just having a “30s life crisis,” deciding it’s finally time to challenge themselves. Each station keeps you moving and engaged, and the community vibe, the cheers, support, and shared determination, make the whole experience unforgettable.
